    m’a aide a decider :)

This is a big day, well not quite as big as last year, when our beloved Steelers won. But – with a boyfriend from Chicago, what do you expect? We are cheering for The Bears all the way! Going to a smallish party, in our Bears gear, of course.

May Grossman be “The good Rex” today!

  6. Mary Ellen

    Hello Jerome!

Of course you know who I am rooting for! Go Bears!!!

Our poor quarterback, Rex Grossman has been taking a lot of heat in Miami with the reporters because of his inexperience. This is his first (of what I believe to be many) Super Bowl games.

I read John Kass’ piece in the Chicago Trib this morning, he’s been in Miami this week and has had some pretty funny stuff to write about. Anyway, what he said today was pretty good. All the talk about Rex not being good enough to win was put in perspective by this quote by John Tait.

He’s taken so much, from these guys (reporters in Miami). It never ends, the picking on him. And he just stands up there and takes it for the rest of us. He’s never once said “I wouldn’t have thrown that interception if Tait didn’t miss a block’ Rex has never once said ‘I threw a good pass but the receiver dropped it’, not once, ever, with all the criticism. That demonstrates leadership to me.”

As Kass said, so well…”He’s not some political boss. He’s just a kid, a football player with so much talent, and no matter what happens on Sunday, let’s hope fans understand that, and step back, win or lose, before he sours on Chicago.

    Go Bears! Go Grossman!!!!

I’m not sure who is going to win this game, it’s going to be, it will all depend on how well each team can execute their game. I think the Bears as an underdog is a good thing. On another blog I was told that the Colt’s quarterback looked “all business”, whereas Grossman looked nervous. That’s fine with me. I think looking “all business” can also be a bit of over confidence.

I’ll be at a Super Bowl party today and will enjoy the day no matter what….at least that’s what I keep telling myself. If the Bears don’t win, I know a few people that will be sorry they didn’t take me up on my wagers yesterday! :-D

I forgot to mention this…Chicago weather today is 2 degrees F. and 25 degrees below zero with the wind chill factor. I’m not sure how cold that would be in France…but I would guess that it would be considered “damned cold”! I wish the Super Bowl were being played here instead of Miami. This is Bear weather!!!!!

(I got a problem: I am for Da Bears AND Tony Dungy)

    Mainon Jeblogue,

Hé bien, l’an dernier sur F2, il y a eu beaucoup de pubs, et des interviews avec des people qui étaient là, tard, pour dire combien ils aimaient le sport US… Bien bien nul, quoi.

    ME,
    //This is Bear weather!!!!!//

Are you sure weather can have a part in this game? I mean, Indianapolis is not a warm place either, right?

Anyway, here in Antibes, it’s been a really warm and sunny day. Maybe something like 60-65 F !!

  11. Bandini

For me, it’s the Bears all the way.

I’m probably not gonna be very productive tomorrow at work.

(Hi ME ! Da Bears !!!)

  12. Jerome ITU

    Quel 1er touchdown !!!!

Bandini!!!! Hello to my favorite adopted Chicagoan. Ya know, if I were Mayor I would give you the key to the city.

That first touchdown for the Bears on the kickoff was amazing…I wish the rest of the game was as good. :-(

I’ll be gracious and say the Colt’s played a good game. The important thing is….57 more days until White Sox opening day! Yea!!!!!

Jerome: I heard it was a bit warmer in Indianapolis, but when it’s below zero, it doesn’t matter….cold is cold. I’m ready for that trip to France now…as long as I’m back in Chicago in April to start the baseball season.

Now I have to get some sleep after drowning my sorrows in food and drink at the Super Bowl party. I’m going to pay for this tomorrow. Yikes!

  15. Bandini

The beginning of the game was fantastic for the Bears but gradually the best QB took over and the Colts were the logical winners.
The Bears didn’t seemed to have enough offensive talent to win it in the third or the fourth.
I’m kinda sad but it was a great show nonetheless.

Thanks a lot Jérome for that link you gave at SF. :-D
that TVU thing is really great (I was stuck with the chinese version :TVants)and now I have a good software to watch Colbert LiveLive.

I watched it on France 2 and then turn to the laptop during commercials. (my favourite was careerbuilder.com)

Mary Ellen : Hopefully Chicago won’t have to wait 22 years to have another chance of winning the damn thing.
    Miss you girl :-( ;-)

  16. Jerome ITU

    ME
    I’m so sorry for you.
I went to bed at the beginning of the second quarter. I really thought Chicago would make it.
Well, at least, you’ll have this huge first touchdown to remember ;-)

    Bandini,
    you’re welcome.
The bad thing was the signals were not synchronized between TVU and France 2 5TVU was like 15 to 30s late). I had both opened on my computer screen and being able to catch those commercials live was wonderful. I’m really looking forward to using this thing to watch US channels !

  17. Mary Ellen

    Thanks Bandini and Jerome

I’m not going to waste my time on a pity party, though. It’s a sad day for Chicago, but I’m happy for the Colt’s fans. Our day will come, we’re a patient group in Chicago. Just look how long it took the White Sox to win a World Series!

Glad to see you Bandini! I think of you everytime I drive into the Loop. The other day I drove down Lake Shore Drive, past the Natural History Museum and they had the brontosauras out in the front of the museum dressed in a Bears Jersey. It was so cool! It was a clear night and all the skyscrapers were lit up with “Go Bears” in their lights. You’ll have to come out here sometime and I’ll show you around town. Who knows, maybe we’ll be hosting the Olympics,eh?
    ;-)
